We are now in week 100 of the COVID Apocalypse, and Dr. Paul Klotman from BCM brings us an update on the pandemic. You may remember that at the outset of the COVID apocalypse, Trump and his apologists said, “Nobody could have known.” That was patent bullshit. Anyone who didn’t have his head crammed into his or her own sigmoid should have known. In 2011, the CDC ran a “Pandemic 101” tabletop exercise that was styled as a “Zombie Apocalypse,” to examined how a pandemic virus might affect the world.
Again in 2019, a couple of months before COVID was detected in the US, the Gates Foundation held a “Pandemic 201” exercise in New York. As you listen to Dr. Klotman’s video, you will see that practically every untoward effect of the COVID pandemic on the US and the world was anticipated by the participants. So were many mitigating strategies – most of which Trump and his entourage of flying monkeys ignored because, “nobody could have known.” Pendejos, hijos de puta!
Not covered in this week’s otherwise excellent COVID update are a study from Malaysia that showed that Ivermectin doesn’t do diddly shit to keep folks from moderate COVID to progressing to ventilator support or severe disease. Another animal study from Japan suggests that the latest subvariant of the Omicron variant is both more contagious and more virulent (more severe) than Omicron itself.
This virus is not yet done with us.
