I mailed Susan’s ballot and mine yesterday. Of course, now that we are in early voting, most of the daily mail is campaign related. There is the occasional solicitation for campaign donations, but most of it glossy, heavy paper showing images of candidates and their families and pets. The other side of the glossy advertisement enumerates things that might matter to the voter: experience, other posts held, accomplishments of various kinds, political positions, and so forth. All of these go straight into the recycling bin, of course. I guess they haven’t gotten the memo that we have already voted. Such a waste of paper, postage and campaign funds. Alas!
The only item of actual mail was an EOB from my health plan. It was clearly marked as, “Not a Bill.” It explained what I had paid as co-pays for my medications so far this year – as if I didn’t already know what I had paid. Cheesus, what a bunch of lame-brained losers! I tore up the EOB and just held it in my hands for a moment. I had the fleeting urge to throw the pieces in the toilet and flush 10 or 15 times, but I resisted. Plumbers are expensive.
