This is a no-spoiler review of a movie that you have probably already seen. It is a Ben Afleck flick about Asperger’s Spectrum Disorder (ASD) somewhere on the spectrum between Rain Man and Chocolate. It is closer to the latter than the former, I think, since our protagonist is a high-functioning person along the spectrum.

The story is not only about the focus and intensity of persons who are on the Asperger’s spectrum, a Superpower of sorts, but also a tale about family relationships – brothers in this instance. It isn’t unlike the story of my own brother and myself – and so many other siblings – childhood rivalry, estrangement, and later reproachment.

The story was a bit slow, but it was worth watching to the end. I give it a solid B. The music, written by Mark Isham, was Spartan but not entirely minimalistic, and it provided just the right amount of uncertainty and tension for the plot.

I recommend this flick to you, if you haven’t already seen it.
