I’m back in the FB Gulag again. I have been banned from Zuck’s platform for a period of 24hrs for having the temerity to refer to activist court decisions like Dobbs as serving the “Christian Taliban.” It was a comment that I made on an Occupy Democrats post. I think it is very telling about Zuck’s ideas of intellectual freedom and free speech. He says he doesn’t want to be a censor, and yet he is exactly that, if only by proxy.
Calling religious extremists “Taliban” does not incite hate or violence. It simply saddles the extreme Christian Nationalist Right with a moniker that they have earned by twisting religious freedom into the right to dictate morality to non-Christians like me, to discriminate against people like me because our beliefs and ideas are inconsistent with theirs, and to silence us because they are so fragile that they feel threatened by the words that call out their own hatreds, privilege and religious intolerance.
Later, I went back on FB and found another comment on the same or a similar Occupy Democrats post. It said, Christaliban, and it had not been taken down. All this suggests that FB’s Artificial Intelligence for identifying “Hate Speech” is much more artificial than it is intelligent. No one here is surprised.
No matter, I am taking images of the globular cluster M4 tonight, and I will post this response to being ostracized from Zuck’s platform tomorrow after serving time in the Gulag yet again.
