This is an image of the globular cluster designated Messier 4 that lies in the constellation Scorpius in visual proximity of the scorpion’s brightest star, Antares. Like other globular clusters in the Milky Way, it orbits around the galactic core in a halo around it.

M4 is readily visible in most binoculars and small telescopes. This image is the composite of 10, 6-minute exposures taken from my backyard with a 130mm astrograph fitted with a Triad quadband filter. I don’t think that the filter adds anything to this image. It is simply a pain to remove and replace with a more appropriate Light Pollution Filter.
