This evening, I was pondering how Republican candidates for public office would parry questions regarding their positions on a woman’s right to choose. The results of the Kansas referendum on the state’s constitutional protections around women’s reproductive rights have put Republican candidates on notice. Take aim at those rights and kiss your race for public office good-fucking-bye. It isn’t complicated.
So, how will these hard right political candidates answer questions regarding their positions on reproductive freedom? Let me think. Oh, I know! They’ll do exactly what Neil Gorsuch, Brett Cavanaugh, and Amy Comey Barrett did. They’ll lie! Lying to the public outside the courtroom is not a crime – witness the four-year tenure of the Orange Prevaricator in Chief.
I expect such political candidates to swear their unfailing fidelity to women’s reproductive freedom right before they head to the statehouse or Congress to vote to end reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy for pregnant people. Don’t forget this.
