Dr. Klotman’s Week 124 update on the COVID pandemic reviews recent papers on the origins of SARS-CoV-2 infection among humans. The Wuhan Seafood Market is clearly implicated, but don’t expect the conspiracy theorists (we’re talking about you, Rand Paul) to be convinced. I mean, these research authors are just scientists, after all. They did their analysis based on the 160-year-old methods of John Snow (no, not the GOT John Snow). I mean, they didn’t even bother to Google the answer and “do their own research.” Geesh!

Dr. Klotman addresses some questions regarding Monkeypox, but I think that I gave the virus and the threat a better treatment in my blog post a few days ago. Neither Dr. Klotman nor I mentioned TPOXX – an available antiviral that has activity against Monkeypox, Smallpox and a few other pox viruses. TPOXX inhibits the ability of the pox virus to complete its external coating so that it can emerge from an infected cell – infecting other cells or moving on to infect another host. It would be nice to have other pox virus antivirals – combination chemotherapy is almost always safer, more effective and less vulnerable to emerging resistance.

In any case, as far as viral illnesses are concerned, it is probably a good idea for all of us to limit ourselves to one sex partner for long periods of time (a year or longer) – just saying.
