Here is Dr. Klotman’s weekly COVID update. This week there is no commentary on Monkeypox. The COVID pandemic is quieting in many places, and CDC as well as the governments of many of our allies are relaxing public health mandates and recommendations for masks, distancing, and school. It’s almost as if the world is getting back to normal.
The Omicron variants are so infective that they have led to a natural herd immunity. Unfortunately, they have also caused hospitalizations and deaths even among the vaccinated and boosted albeit at a much lower risk level than those who are unvaccinated.
I’m still wearing my mask; it is hardly an inconvenience at this point. When the bi-valent COVID vaccine booster becomes available in September, I’m going to be in the queue to get it.
