We bought a duck for this evening’s dinner. Susan roasted it with orange quarters and rosemary sprigs in its cavity. We had roast duck l’orange with a chunk of French baguette and a variety of condiments – Mother’s Hot Mango Chutney, Mint sauce, and Sweet Mango chutney. Mother’s is a condiment from our friendly South Asian Market that keeps us supplied in spicy condiments, samosas and incense.

Tonight, we had half of the fowl. I like the neck and giblets; Susan likes the fatty duck tail – the Pope’s nose. The basic offering looked like this.

A plate of roasted duck parts and some traditional condiments

My plate consisted of a thigh and leg. Susan had the wing and breast.

Left to right – Baguette, Mother’s Hot Mango Chutney, Mint Sauce, Sweet Mango Chutney and Heart & Liver

When I ultimately leave this Earth, this is one of the meals that I miss most (if there is any kind of memory after death). 🙂
