Like North Texas and states to our North and East, we have had another February ice storm. Today was the first time in three days that I could go to the grocery store. Many of the shelves were empty. I suspect that produce wasn’t delivered to the store during the ice storm, and possibly there were no employees to stock the shelves. So it goes.

Some of my friends have posted pictures of downed tree limbs. Here are some of mine. The tree is a Cedar Elm (Ulmus crassifolia) that stands on our southern property line. The broken limb landed on the front lawn without damaging any structure or the deck. As I drove to the store, I noticed even larger limbs of Live Oaks, Junipers and other species along the streets. There were dozens of damaged trees. In the grocery store parking lot, there were easily another dozen or more. There is going to be a lot of cleaning-up to do after this storm.
