Sometimes my astronomical images look more like smudges than actual objects – planetary nebulae and comets, for example. Here is a stack of eight, 2-minute ISO800 frames of Comet 2022 E3 ZTF from the night of Feb 5th. The comet’s angular motion in two minutes is significant, and the result is that the comet head appears as a smudge rather than as a more discrete, starlike point. Alas.
