Perhaps you think that I mean a Ring or Nest device or perhaps some kind of ADT system. Nay, we are talking felines here. I got dressed this morning (okay, it was pretty late but still before noon), and spied a gray tabby walking along the side of the house. It was visible in the window next to Susan’s side of the bed.

Me: “A long-haired gray tabby just walked past you.”

Susan: <turning to look out the window> “Is it still there?”

Me: “No, it’s gone now. You know how in the forest there are rabbit trails? The side of the house is like that.”

Susan: “Yeah, and people often follow them.”

Me: “Yeah, I have been down many.”

Susan: “Same here.”

We chuckled, and I took my coffee into the living room. Kedi came along; she has to be wherever the action is. You never know when the people may scare up a small rodent. She crouched down along the French door overlooking the deck. Momentarily she stiffened. I couldn’t see what had caught her attention, but just a few seconds later, the fluffy gray tabby appeared on the deck. It had come around the side of the house.

It approached the door, and Kedi flattened herself against the floor. She was on the prowl and preparing an attack pounce.

The gray tabby peered into the house for a long moment, and Kedi sat perfectly still right under its nose.

The Gray Tabby Looking In

The tabby came right up to the glass, and in a surprise attack, Kedi suddenly sprang toward it. In the seconds that followed, Kedi chased the tabby across the glass facing the deck. The tabby disappeared into the carport.

Cats are very territorial.
