It is said of beauty, but it applies to the predominant feature of race, skin color, as well. Skin color doesn’t really change who we are. Consider the Black Panther that is simply a melanistic leopard. The same might be said of Clarence Thomas who is nothing but a melanistic white guy. A few decades ago, the vernacular for people like Thomas was Oreo – black on the outside but white on the inside.
It bugs me that so many political pundits refer to the SCOTUS supermajority as the Right-Wing supermajority. What they actually are is the Male White Supremacist majority.
Okay, I know you are going to tell me that Clarence Thomas is black, but I’ve already pointed out that he is just a melanistic male white supremacist. And what about Amy Coney Barett? Well, she’s a submissive to the Christian White Male hegemony. She did vote to strip her entire gender of the right to bodily autonomy, did she not?
In the minority are the BIPOC and marginalized groups. Sonia Sotomayor is the Hispanic offspring of Puerto Ricans. Ketanji Brown Jackson is African American. And Elena Kagan is the child of Russian Jewish immigrants. Minorities all.
So, let’s face up to the truth. Our Supreme Court is comprised of two factions. One enshrines the beliefs of male white supremacists, and the other does not. On issues that do not address gender equality or the actual equality of all human beings, they may agree and even vote unanimously. But in contests that address the rights of non-white or non-cis-males, they will probably never agree.
It must be a bitch to hate one’s own race and/or gender so much that one has to align with male white supremacists. Merde!
