I ran into this news item today, and I recalled that some of my RealWorld and Cyber Space friends are my seniors by a few years. So, I thought that I should share it with all of you in case you missed it.

FDA Analysis Finds Co-Administration Of mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine, High-Dose Flu Vaccine Linked To Slightly Elevated Risk Of Stroke Among Older Adults

The New York Times (10/24, Mandavilli) reports, “The Covid vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna may be linked to a slight increase in the risk of stroke when administered along with a high-dose flu vaccine, according to a new analysis by the Food and Drug Administration.” This type of “flu vaccine is usually given to older people, and the risk association is clearest in adults aged 85 and older.” However, “that increase, if real, seems very small, and it is possible that the risk may stem from the flu vaccine alone.” Additionally, “a separate analysis by the agency points to a small increase in the incidence of seizures after Covid vaccinations in children ages 2 to 5.” Both of the analyses were published online as pre-prints on medRxiv.

At 74 years of age, I’m just a mere upstart. That said, I’ve already had a stroke albeit not related to COVID, Influenza or vaccinations. If you are older, you may want to stage you vaccinations so that they are separated by a week or two. I took the Pfizer m-RNA COVID vaccine, the high-dose Fluzone, and RSV vaccines all together and did fine. But if you are older, it seems that doing that may not be the best idea.
