Okay, it’s actually Ono aka Hawaiian Wahoo. I don’t think that I have had it before, but it looked interesting in the fish monger’s display, and I bought some for dinner. It’s a lean, flaky, fish, and I prepared it panfried in EVOO with a bit of pecan crust. The side was that loveliest of thistles – an artichoke with garlic butter dip.

The Table Setting for Ono

I have to say that while the Ono was satisfying, I’m more of a Pacific Loin Cod-Halibut-Chilean Seabass kind of guy. I do occasionally indulge in Salmon, Big-Eye Tuna steak, Swordfish steak, red fish, and red snapper. Although, it is lobster and scallops that are the real treats.

Today, at the Central Market, they had stone crab claws for $60.00/lb. I remember when they were $16/lb. and we would eat our fill of them with drawn butter. Alas!
