I saw a segment of Kristen Welker’s interview with S. Carolina Senator Tim Scott on Face the Nation today. Ms. Welker asked him whether he would accept the outcome of the 2024 Presidential election no matter who won. Sen. Scott replied that he was ready to see Donald Trump become the 47th US President. She asked the question six different ways, pointedly emphasizing that it was a Yes or No question. Scott never chose one of the two possible answers.
I know that there are limits to what a news interviewer can say or ask on national TV, but this kind of non-answer is focking ridiculous! I must conclude that one of two things must be true. The first is that Sen. Scott is so terrified of what Trump might do to Scott’s political career if he answered Yes that he can only dodge the actual question and repeat that he fully expects Trump to win. If so, then he is a coward; he has no moral North Star. All he has is knee pads and a bib so that he can kneel before Trump to service him now and after the erection – I mean election.
The alternative explanation is that Scott, like Trump, is willing to ignore the results of the election and thus is prepared ignore the will of the American electorate in order to serve his master and himself. From where I sit, that makes Scott, like Trump, a traitor to Americans, the Constitution, and the principle of Democracy.
I realize that treason has a formal legal definition and that seizing power illegal by overturning an election does not fit that definition. Nonetheless, I say, “Lock these traitors Up!”
