I was going to make shrimp scampi over fettuccini for dinner tonight but instead wound-up talking Susan into making dogs with a side of pork ‘n beans. Scampi with garlic, parsley, Shiitake mushrooms, and lemon zest tomorrow.

We usually have two dogs each. I usually have a traditional American chili cheese dog with diced onions and a nekkid, Mexican bun-less dog that is probably a distant relative of the Xoloitzcuintli. Both are delicious, of course.

It reminds me of a story about an interview with actor Ricardo Montalban who was asked whether he thought of himself as Mexican or American. The actor, born in Mexico but then becoming a naturalized American citizen, responded that Mexico was his mother and America was his wife. “How could you ask me to choose between them?” He must have replied.
