I ordered a Corando SolarMax 70mm telescope from Agena Astro a week before we went on vacation, and I asked them to delay its delivery until we got back from vacation. It arrived today. The dedicated ZWO ASI183 MC planetary camera for that instrument had arrived several weeks earlier.

This is my first foray into serious solar astronomy. I’ve taken sunspot photos and eclipse photos over the years going back to the 1990’s, but I have never done the kind of narrow-band imaging that a true solar telescope of H-alpha etalons makes possible.

Right now, everything is still in the box, as it were. Still, I look forward to unpacking the components and assembling a new solar rig that will allow me to do daytime astronomy. The new adventure begins tomorrow.
