Fiesta Mart is a Texas grocery chain of some 200 stores, I think. The ones in Houston and Austin cater to the Hispanic demographic. We don’t go there, but we did today because Susan and I had been having a craving for Mexican breakfast pastries. I myself like pineapple empanadas, Cuernos, and Orejas. Susan has a think for pumpkin empanadas, Cuernos, and bread pudding. Fiesta usually has these and many other selections including Conchas, Campechanas, and more recently, a variety of Central American pastries that we have not tried – Austin is becoming more cosmopolitan with the influx of migrants as well as foreign students and tech professionals.

The Elote man has a little food truck outside the store. I’ve never tried his elotes, but the aroma is always great. He was just opening up as we drove up to the store. His shop looks like this:

Yesterday, I bought ingredients for beef fajita tacos for this evening’s meal. Today, I realized that we had no more Borracho beans; so, I decided to postpone the fajita meal until I could make another pot of beans. I’ll start the beans soaking tonight as soon as I finish this post.

Instead of fajitas, we had the last of the roasted tomato basil soup and fancy grilled cheese sandwiches made with too many white cheeses to count. I can only hope that the image conjures all manner of adult fantasies in your mind so that you can go to bed with a smile on your face.
