Today, the sky was actually clear – not a cloud to be seen. So, imaging the solar disk was easy compared to previous days. I used 16-bit A/D to maximize the color palette, and I used the highest resolution of which the ASI183 camera is capable. The resulting SER-format video file is 49GB! SER format is uncompressed video, and it is too large to keep in this form. So, I have taken the best 20% of the frames to create a single image and discarded the video file. Alas!

I think that I’m going to have to put together a few solar observing posts to help folks who look at these pictures make the most sense of what they are seeing. I’ll start tomorrow.
