There are large solar prominences above the equator on the eastern limb, and some smaller ones on the western limb. Sunspot AR3784, the source of a recent large coronal mass ejection (CME) continues toward the sun’s west and northwestern limb. The aurora expected from the arrival of the CME will occur between 8/17 and 8/18 – possibly longer.

A new, smaller, sunspot group, AR3790, is emerging just below the equator on the eastern limb.
