Today was probably the last cloudless day for a while. Our forecast calls for much needed rain over the next few days through Tuesday. The comparison H-alpha and broader band images of the solar disk appear below.


There are some very showy prominences along the northeastern, south polar, and southwestern limbs of the solar disk. These are showcased below. The rightmost image in the gallery below shows the prominences along the SW limb with active regions 3889 and 3892 at the top of the image.



Below, the active regions on the earth side of the sun are annotated. AR3894 is very faint in this image and requires a good imagination to “see.”
