Today’s H-alpha image shows a dramatic prominence along the sun’s NW limb. The blue arrow in the image below marks the filament that is the same prominence against the sun’s disk. The filament-prominence combination gives this structure a surprisingly 3-D-like appearance. Smaller prominences appear along the NE and SW limbs.

The sunspot image shows all the active regions visible in today’s NASA SDO image. AR4107 is about to disappear around the sun’s western limb. AR4112, not previously visible in my images, is now faintly visible just below the solar equator.
