We had patchy cumulus clouds until about 2:30PM. My observing window is usually 3-4PM when the sun clears the trees. By 3PM, the sky was completely clear for the photoshoot, but I could see distant clouds and hear the rumble of thunder as I took my gear into the house. An hour later, we were having a serious thunderstorm. The rain was much needed. Saved by the bell.

Today’s H-alpha image shows some delicate prominences all along the E (from NE to SE), and W-NW solar limbs.

Today’s annotated sunspot image now clearly shows the three newest active regions – AR4119, AR4120, and AR4121 that were not visible in yesterday’s image.

The prominences are showcased in the images below. Note the plume of sun stuff high above the W-NW solar limb.
