After a few days of overcast skies and intermittent showers, the sun is again available for a portrait. Today’s H-alpha image shows prominence activity along the E, NW, and W solar limbs. The Eastern limb prominences are arch-like whereas the Western limb structures appear somewhat serpentine.

The sunspot image shows fives of the seven active regions visible NASA’s SDO image. Missing are AR4142 and AR4143 which are too faint to be seen here.
