Today was another toasty Central Texas day, but the mercury only hit 100F. The sky was mostly clear. Today’s H-alpha image shows prominences along the NE, SE, NW and SW solar limbs.

The annotated sunspot image shows five active regions – all of which were visible yesterday. AR4205 has disappeared, and AR4201 and AR4202 have rotated to the sun’s far side.

The prominences along the eastern limb are shown below. Most of them are arches of sun stuff high above the chromosphere.

The prominences along the western solar limb appear in the gallery below. Notice the jet-like prominence along the SW limb and the complex arches below it. The dark filament that ends at those arches is prominence activity as seen against the solar disk. So, as the sun rotates in coming days, we can expect to see more prominence activity along the SW solar limb.
