Below, today’s H-alpha image shows seven active regions and significant prominence activity along the sun’s NE, SE, and W limbs.

Today’s corresponding sunspot image is shown below. Where AR4466 is represented by its page in the H-alpha image, its actual sunspot complex is seen clearly in this image.

Below, the NE limb shows a group of dramatic arches that, seen on edge, appear as plumes of sun stuff. Along the SE limb, we have prominences that, while not tall, extend over much of that limb. Along the W limb, there is a blob of sun stuff high above the chromosphere and a larger, broad-based prominence South of it.
