We discussed tonight’s dinner last night; it is part of our bedtime routine. We decided on Central Market tamales (Pork/Beef/Poblano) with refried beans with Pico and Guac that we had on hand. Things don’t always work out as we plan.
Susan went to a doctor’s appointment, and I went off to the market. The shopping list was short, and I soon found myself at the area where the bags of tamales are displayed. There were no tamales. Shit! It was time for an executive decision. I decided on a surf ‘n turf dinner using the cocktail shrimp and squid salad that I had on hand, and a boneless ribeye from the butcher’s area.
The net result is a Surf ‘n Turf of grilled ribeye and cocktail shrimp with a side of squid salad. Not too shabby for an off-the-cuff executive decision. 🙂

That looks wonderful! I suspect it was. Your access to Central Market is your key to such bounty!
We have no specialty market in our hood. And I haven’t been going to the grocery store yet. Soon I hope!
Sarah got us a small portion of a leg of lamb at a specialty market in Portland when she ran an errand in that area. She butterfled it and made 5 portions for us: one with a partial lamb bone for a stew and the rest with small sections that we could grill. We froze all except two lovely sections that she grilled for us. She served with a nice green salad and a baked potato.
