I watched my favorite weekend news programs today, and then I watched the last bit of the Super Bowl. I’m not much of a sports fan, but I respect those who are. After all, life is a rather transitory affair, and we should spend it doing things that we genuinely appreciate – astronomy, math, literature, sports, whatever one finds meaningful. The last bit of the Super Bowl is either the most exciting or most depressing bit, as I see it. This one was fairly exciting.

After the game, I switched to the Olympics; I enjoy watching the sinewy, athletic guys and gals dancing on the ice. I watched them intermittently as I reviewed the Democratic Party candidates for the upcoming Texas statewide and county elections. Go Beto! Go Rochelle! Etc. I recorded my list of candidate selections in a Word document so that I can file my mail-in ballot tomorrow or Tuesday.

I love living on the edge. My hair is now shoulder-length, and mail-in voting in Texas is tantamount to voter fraud, I’ve heard. Let’s face it; I’m a dissident, non-conformist, iconoclast, born-again Noam Chomsky wannabe.

I finished my review of the ballot, and then set aside the judicial positions for review tomorrow. There are so many. On the TV, the Olympic competition had changed to ladies’ ski ‘n shoot competition. I wonder whether young Russian soldiers in Belarus and Russia, facing off against Ukranian defenses have considered that some Ukrainian granny with an AK47 may be their undoing in an upcoming conflict. Queue up Robert Rodriguez’s “Grindhouse,” with Danny Trejo and some heavily armed, scantily clad vixens taking out the bad guys.

Sadly, I missed the Curling competitions of the Winter Games – such was my misfortune.
