If you are a clinical person of almost any stripe, “Clear Liquids,” has a specific meaning for you. It’s a pre-surgical dietary prescription, or one required before a GI endoscopy. The gist of the clear liquid diet is to minimize the risk of particulate aspiration (the operative scenario) or the likelihood of intestinal particulates compromising the proper visualization of the intestinal lining.
So, Susan is supposed to be on clear liquids tomorrow and the following day. We decided that, working up to it, we would have ramen noodles for tonight’s dinner. The brand that Susan purchased was Nongshim; I’ve never had it before. Susan chose chicken, and I chose shrimp. My bowl appears below.

Susan: “Look; mine actually has little bits of chicken,” she says holding up 3mm piece of white protein for my inspection.
Me: “That’s cool. Mine smells like shrimp.”
Tastes like chicken
Exactly, and mine tasted like shrimp. Thank goodness neither of us has had anosmia!
