I really don’t get Republican logic. Maybe it isn’t their reasoning but their adroit hypocrisy that leaves me flummoxed.
Texas Republicans claim to believe that parents should have the ability to say what books can and can’t be put on school library shelves. Parents, they insist, should be able to decide what will be taught regarding topics ranging from slavery to the holocaust to gender identity and sexual orientation. Texas Republicans even seem to believe that parents should be able to censor the words that teachers can use in discussing some topics – “gay,” for one. Parents, it seems are all-powerful at least regarding their children’s exposure to knowledge and facts.
Yet, the same Texas Republican zealots who champion the supremacy of parents’ rights have now moved to criminalize the healthcare choices that those same parents make to help their gender nonconforming children feel better in their own skins. No parental rights there; that’s child abuse, according to our sick state AG and Governor – both mentally deficient fuckups who are much too preoccupied with other people’s sexuality to respect the autonomy and agency of others who don’t suffer from the same sexual preferences these two morons have.
I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m willing to bet that Gregg Abbott is into cunnilingus; he does have a spinal injury after all. And Ken Paxton? I bet he’s a self-loathing, closeted gay. From what I have observed over the past few decades, those types tend to be the most rabidly anti-LGBT politicos.
Texas, we are a dull and backward people who clearly emerged from the shallow end of the gene pool. Alas. Let’s elect some less judgmental candidates to these positions. It’s time for Beto and Rochelle Garza!
