I was just watching Nicole Wallace interviewing Harry Dunn – one of the Capitol Police Officers who testified regarding the 1/6/2021 insurrection. She had asked him about Mr. Ayers’ apology at the end of the most recent Committee presentation, and the officer’s response was most thoughtful.
He said that he thought it was good for Mr. Ayers that he wanted to apologize, but that Officer Dunn himself was not ready to accept an apology. He first needed to see Justice. Once justice had been done, he could entertain healing.
And I think that his sentiment resonates with most of us. We don’t want a DOJ that will refuse to undertake bringing the top echelon of the insurrection, Donald Trump and his entourage of co-conspirators, to justice because “the country needs to heal.” It’s quite the other way around.
There can be no real healing until justice is done.
