Susan last cooked Beef Stroganoff for me at least ten years ago. I think I was still working for United Healthcare at the time. I had a yen for this comfort food dish the other day, and I proposed to Susan that we try to find a Ukranian recipe for the dish. She agreed. I went online and found several Ukrainian riffs on Beef Stroganov. I chose this one as our starting point. There are others – no doubt as tasty.
Today, I went to the market and bought parsley and dill, beef tenderloin tips (a single piece that Susan cut into appropriate bits), a bag of German egg noodles, Shiitake mushrooms, and a salad of greens and tangerines with walnuts and bleu cheese. Let me say that I thought the German noodles were appropriate since Germany is a member of NATO and supports the defense of Ukraine.
Susan prepared the meal, and it looked like this.

I don’t always seek to make a social or political statement with our meals, but I am not one to ignore an opportunity to do so. I’m not a big fan of chicken unless we’re talking Southern fried dark meat, but if I were, I might be contemplating a plate of Chicken Kiev for next week.
