Here is Dr. Klotman’s Week 136 update on the COVID pandemic. COVID concerns have faded into the background for now. I go to the store, and I’m one of the few weirdos wearing a mask. I haven’t seen many masks the past two weeks, and that reveals the low level of concern that people seem to have now. But as the Shingrex commercials say, “the virus doesn’t care.”

This low level of public concern is probably the reason that the uptake of the bi-valent COVID booster among the most vulnerable to poor outcomes (hospitalization and/or death) is so low – somewhere near 10%. Later in the year or in the early months of 2023, we will probably see some of the new strains that are already circulating in Europe and Asia.

If you are an old fart like me, >65 years old, get your bi-valent booster if you haven’t already. That way, you can have family holiday gatherings with a bit more protection than you would have had without it. Cheers.
