We made pathetic progress on the road today – from OKC to Salina Kansas despite some 7 hours on the road. Between OKC and Wichita KA we saw no fewer than five jackknifed 18-wheelers. Although one of them had its trailer lying on its side, it did not appear that any of the drivers had been injured.

Elsewhere on the road were several cars and vans that had wound up on the median strip – upside down. Merde!

This evening, we had dinner at the Jalisco restaurant in Salina. We’re spending the night in a nearby motel and planning to get an early start in the morning so that we can make it to Omaha by noon if not earlier.

  1. Glad you’re getting along safely. I remember a drive from Arkansas back to St Louis one winter just after a big snowstorm and seeing so many cars and trucks off the road. It can be scary!
