I got a Fast-Five Quiz from Medscape today. It was a review of a personality disorder. In these quizzes there is always a discussion related to correct answer for each of the questions. This one observed the following regarding the behaviors of individuals who had the personality disorder in question.
- Disregarding the law, indicated by repeatedly committing acts that are grounds for arrest
- Being deceitful, indicated by lying repeatedly, using aliases, or conning others for personal gain or pleasure
- Being easily provoked or aggressive, indicated by constantly getting into physical fights or assaulting others
- Recklessly disregarding their own safety or the safety of others
- Consistently acting irresponsibly, indicated by quitting a job with no plans for another one or not paying bills
- Not feeling remorse, indicated by indifference to or rationalization of hurting or mistreating others
You may be thinking that this describes your RWNJ and alcoholic uncle Billy whose presence you thankfully have to endure only during some holidays. I think it is a remarkably fitting description of DJT. Don’t you?
My former workmate Dana (RIP) used to opine that Trump was a malignant narcissist – another personality disorder. I’ve always thought he was a good fit for antisocial personality disorder (the condition in the Medscape quiz). The truth is that he has features of both pathologies, and neither Dana nor I were psychologists or psychiatrists. We were both engaged in healthcare in different roles but always trying to make sense of the behavioral pathologies of our most deranged political actors.
Trump is too much of a chicken shit to get in an actual fight.
