This week, BCM’s Dr. Paul Klotman is back to reporting about COVID. Lilly, his long-haired Dachshund, is back too.

This video focuses on a study that shows that COVID mortality, post-vaccine, was higher in counties with a higher percentage of Republican voters than in those where Democratic party voters predominated. It all has to do with the relationship between conservative political ideology and vaccine hesitancy, of course. Something similar was observed in Florida pre- and post- De Santis stance on vaccination. But hey, it doesn’t matter that much. What’s a few thousand more deaths, right?

There is also news about a recent study that shows that wastewater viral loads are a reliable leading indicator of COVID hospitalizations. That’s good news, of course. The bad news is that these levels have been rising over the last few weeks. I need to check the CDC web site to see whether the agency is posting regular updates on wastewater virus levels.
