Here is a series of images taken today, 10/14/2023 during the annular solar eclipse as photographed from Corpus Christi, Texas under partly cloudy skies. The solar disk image varies in brightness from one image to the next partly because of the clouds as well as the progressing occultation of the solar disk by the moon and variation in exposure duration.

Time elapses from top to bottom going from left to right. Eclipse maximum occurred at about 11:58 AM.

The instrument was an 80mm f/5 APO astrograph using a full-aperture, glass solar filter, and a Cannon 6D Mark II DSLR. Camera ISO set to 200 and exposures bracketed from a maximum of 1/60th second to 1/1600th of a second depending on the apparent brightness of the solar disk given the intervening clouds. The only post-processing was a conversion from RAW to JPG format and substantial cropping to excise black space in the frame and thus enlarge the eclipse image.

  3. WOW! Our universe is so wondrous!
Our local TV Station sent a photographer out to Central Oregon east of the Cascade Mountains. Though partially obscured by clouds, he sent images to the station so we could watch on TV.
Glad you were able to get the entire event! Thank you for sharing your photos! Simply amazing!!!!!!
