It is a dress rehearsal, as it were – the execution of a plan with the intention of revealing its flaws. Astrophotographers do this when they are planning on a long trip to a dark site or perhaps to capture some astronomical event that will not be available again for years. If there is a flaw in our plan, equipment, or software, we want to know in advance so that we can remediate it before it is too late. Of course, there is always the unexpected, the unforeseen, that even a rehearsal fails to reveal. I hate it when that happens.

Tonight’s food porn was a jalapeno sausage with mac & cheese, and some oven-roasted vegetables. We are planning on having Thanksgiving dinner here, with friends, and offering oven-roasted vegetables as a side dish. We wanted to taste what the Central Market was offering in the roasted veggies domain. So, tonight we tried them – a dry run, as it were. Here’s the dinner setting:

The roasted vegetables were carrots, parsnips, onions (or maybe shallots), and turnips. They were lighter fare than the starchier roasted root vegetables like yams and potatoes. I think they are going to work well with our Thanksgiving dinner menu.

  1. Sarah made a test version of the Thanksgiving dinner tonite. Since we both love turkey, it served its purpose well. I’m suggesting a couple of adjustments. 😊
