Call it a “Jab,” if you like. When I was a resident and we stuck needles into our patients to draw blood or start an IV, we most often called it a “Poke.” Today, I had my third poke – the Moderna m-RNA COVID booster. Now, both Susan and I have had the booster dose, and we should represent less of a menace to our extended family whom we hope to visit during the holidays. If you haven’t yet had your booster, consider putting it on your calendar – you can find the booster schedule here.
As far as who among the adult population should get a booster is concerned, I would just observe that obesity is a risk factor for poor COVID outcomes, and at least 40% of US adults are obese. So, I’m with those who say, “Just screw it; boosters for everyone!” It’s part of a KISS strategy to avoid confusing the public and encourage vaccine uptake.
We got our booster pokes on Tuesday.
Robert got Pfizer.
They would only give me a half dose of Moderna since I’m on immune suppression drugs.
I have to get a second poke in six months.
I felt like crap yesterday, but good today.
Enjoy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for the holiday wish. I know that holidays are hard for those who have lost a loved one – especially holiday meals when the absence is undeniable. I hope that the sadness that comes with that absence is dispersed by happy memories from past holidays.
