The grands and their parents got off to an early start and went to do the aerial tramway. When they returned to our base, the kids were wired, not ready for a nap, but not ready for another adventure. They stayed home with Mom while Susan, Nico, and I went up the Trail Ridge Road.
We stopped at the entrance to TRR and took some pictures or the mountains, ground squirrels and other features from that vantage point.

We drove up the TRR to the Alpine Visitor’s Center and the little Country Store there. The clouds cast sharp shadows on the valley below. Nico pointed out a recent rockslide that I had not seen before. They looked like this.

The best part of the TRR trip, one we have made multiple times over the decades, was a chat we had about prior trips, other vacations, and our experiences as a family. When our life journeys are done, the things that matter most are our memories.
Susan and I went home to share a libation, and Nico met Lydia and the girls at Coffee on the Rocks. They later went to get us all a feast at our favorite Nepalese restaurant.
Before they arrived with dinner, I captured images of both Susan and the moon.

The day was well spent.
