I’m anti-abortion, but not anti-choice. I think that every pregnant person should have absolute autonomy over her body, but I think that abortion should be the option of last resort. In other words, our society should make it safe for young people to explore sex without becoming responsible for its unexpected, and sometimes untoward, outcomes.

I think that effective contraception should be available to all children of reproductive age regardless of their parents’ preferences. I think that every person should have autonomy over his or her reproductive capacity. If your religious or ethical principles oppose this concept, then just fuck you. There is nothing else for me to say.

Every year, I contribute to “Texas Healthy Futures.” It’s an organization that works to educate teens, and older young persons, regarding healthy sexual choices. That’s the right way to counter abortion – not by making abortion access more difficult, but by making abortion less necessary.

I invite you to look into similar sex-education groups in your state or community so that you can support them. Ideally, there should be no reason to support anti-choice legislation or anti-abortion laws.
