This blog is my digital Elba where I have voluntarily entered exile after my most recent imprisonment in the Facebook Gulag. What was it that Satan said in Paradise Lost regarding the merits of ruling in Hell as opposed to serving in Facebook? Yeah, that.
I hope to publish my astrophotographs, food porn pictures, medical topic musings and random thoughts here in order to share with my friends – most of whom are from the Facebook world – such as it is. I hope that you will visit often, and that your visits are rewarded with at least an occasional smile or chuckle. Feel free to leave me your comments and thoughts; I appreciate them.
Below, I offer you an astrophoto that is a composite of 15, 6-minute sub-frames shot through my little 80mm f/5 APO refractor astrograph during our most recent trip to Casitas de Gila in Gila, New Mexico. This image could stand some more thoughtful processing, and perhaps I will revisit it during the coming weeks.

M31 – The Andromeda Galaxy
Excellent. I’m amazed that an amateur (if that is what you really are) can be so precise with serial photos over time and the earth’s movement, as judged by the well-defined pinpoints of light
Thanks, AD. Precise tracking comes from equipment that is up to the task; in days past, it was indeed a test of human focus and patience. Today, it is most often the result of having gear that can do very precise tracking and real-time corrections performed by a computer. I have both. 🙂
Amazing photo!
