Today’s solar eye-candy is an arcade of solar prominences on the sun’s southeastern limb.

The prominence is highlighted below in the cropped image. Nearby and just above the prominences is sunspot group AR3811.

Although there are many other sunspot groups visible on the sun’s disk, I usually tune the telescope’s filters to better show other features such as prominences, plages, and filaments. The larger sunspots still show but they are not as impressive as when the telescope is tuned to emphasize them. You can see the difference in the two versions of sunspot group AR3807 below. On the left, with the filters tuned to better see the prominences, plages, and filaments, you can see the bright plage between the sunspot pair. On the right, with the filters tuned to better see the sunspots, many small spots between the two large ones are revealed.
