Today was partly cloudy, but a solar photoshoot was still possible. Today’s comparison images are shown below. Yesterday, I increased the exposure duration to .02 sec/frame up from .01 sec/frame. The image histograms look good, and the images are brighter with just a bit more detail, I think.


There are delicate prominences along most of the solar disk rim. An annotated cameo of the active regions (sunspots) is shown below. Last night, near midnight, a solar flare from AR3869 disrupted communications Down Under.
The feature that I have labeled as “?” is not identified in the reference materials that I use for annotations. I’m going to try to keep an eye on it to see whether it earns an AR designation.
