Today’s H-alpha image shows intense plages around AR3977, 3976, 3978, and 3981 in the central-northern latitudes. There are also plages just south of the sun’s equator where AR3980 and 3974 are expected. There are two large loop prominences along the southeastern and southwestern solar limbs

The annotated sunspot image shows a new active region, AR3982 further north than the other regions. Neither AR3980 nor AR3974 is visible in my image.

The largest prominences appear in the gallery below. These are just cropped images of the H-alpha image at the top of the page. I also made small AVI movies of these areas and processed them separately; neither one showed as much detail as the images.
