Today we had a clear sky with much less turbulence than yesterday. The H-alpha image of the sun shows ongoing prominence activity along the sun’s SE limb. There is also a faint loop prominence along the SW limb. A new active region designated AR4021 is emerging from the sun’s eastern limb.

There are four active regions visible in the sunspot image below. Active Region 4016 has disappeared, and AR4012 is approaching the western solar limb – soon to disappear to the sun’s far side. Note AR4021 just emerging from the sun’s eastern limb.

Today’s cropped images of the major prominences appear in the gallery below. Note that yesterday’s loop prominence along the SE limb now shows two interconnected loops and a plume along the southernmost part of the prominence. The SW limb shows a faint loop prominence.
