Today was another cloudy day – marginal for solar imaging. Today’s H-alpha image shows more prominence activity than we had yesterday. The main prominences are along the NE, SE, NW, and SW solar limbs. The appear showcased in the galleries at the bottom of this page.

The corresponding sunspot image shows only three active regions, and AR4089 is still very faint. The image post-processing (sharpening, noise reduction, and annotation) tends to wash out some features. JPG is not a “lossless” image format; I find that this image degradation is most noticeable in the sunspot images.

The eastern limb shows a jet of sun stuff high above the northeastern chromosphere, and loop prominences along the southeastern limb.
