By the time my solar photo window arrived (3PM CST), today’s skies were mostly sunny. I tuned the innermost Etalon to emphasize the plages (bright areas around the sunspots), filaments and prominences. There are ten active regions today.

The sunspot image shows nine of the ten sunspot groups annotated in the H-alpha image. Perhaps AR4147 will be more noticeable in tomorrow’s sunspot image.

Here’s a cameo of the active regions in the sun’s northern hemisphere.

Today’s prominences are delicate wisps of sun stuff. Only the loop prominence along the SE limb has discernable structure.
