You probably know that there are three different antibody cocktails available for early COVID infection. The Regeneron cocktail is the one that the Orange Horifficus got when he got infected his last year in office. The BAM/ETE cocktail came later, and sotrovimab is the latest. The first two are ineffective against the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. So, they have lost their approval for COVID disease; the US Department of HHS is no longer shipping them.
That leaves sotrovimab as the only antibody infusion for COVID. Unfortunately, supplies of this antibody treatment have been exhausted, and we do not know when it will again be available. It sucks, but that’s the way it is.
We’re in an arms race with this virus, and the best chance we have to prevail over it is worldwide vaccination. I’m not going to hold my breath.
